Typically that error requires re-installation of MATLAB.

Hi,
The following MATLAB answer refers to the same issue that you are facing.

Try deleting these two files in your Matlab paths:
  1. pathdef.m
  2. startup.m
If issue still persists, try re-installation of MATLAB.
