Inquiry About Importing Lanelet2 Files into RoadRunner
Afficher commentaires plus anciens
Hello,
This is Giho from Treeze Company.
I am currently using RoadRunner and would like to import a file created in Lanelet2 into RoadRunner.
From what I understand, direct import is not possible, so I am trying to convert the file into .rrhd format instead.
I have two questions regarding this process:
- Do you think the workflow Lanelet2 → rrhd → RoadRunner is the best approach?
- If this workflow is possible, how can I make the road appear properly in RoadRunner?
- What do I need to do to get a license?
Thank you for your time and support.

From my understanding, the goal is to bring Lanelet2-based map data into RoadRunner, and since a direct import is not supported, you are exploring conversion to the RRHD format as an intermediate step. You also had questions about whether this workflow is appropriate, how to ensure the road appears correctly in RoadRunner, and what license is required.
Using the workflow Lanelet2 -> RRHD -> RoadRunner is currently the best available approach for importing custom road or map data into RoadRunner when a direct import path is not available. RRHD is the native format expected by RoadRunner Scene Builder for constructing scenes from external or custom data, so converting the Lanelet2 data into a properly authored RRHD map is the right direction.
To make the road appear correctly in RoadRunner, the key requirement is that the RRHD map is authored with the correct structure and semantics. This includes correct definitions for road geometry, lane boundaries, lane connectivity, and attributes such as widths and markings. Once these elements are defined correctly in the RRHD file, RoadRunner Scene Builder can interpret the data and generate a valid, visible road network in the scene.
The following documentation pages walk through the expected RRHD structure and provide examples of building RoadRunner scenes from custom data. These references should help clarify how to author the RRHD file so that roads and lanes appear as expected:
This page explains how Scene Builder consumes RRHD maps and how custom data should be structured. For more information you can refer to the following documentation links that contain examples for RRHD map:
As per the documentation to build a RoadRunner scene from imported RRHD data, a RoadRunner Scene Builder license is required.
I hope this helps!
