Is there any way of viewing reduced resolution dataset (R- Set ) files in a deployed application?

Imtool works great in MATLAB, but is there any way to visualise reduced resolution dataset (R- Set ) files when an application is deployed?

The openrset function calls imtool and consequently cannot be deployed. Is there any equivalent function to image or imagesc that would allow reduced resolution datatests (R-set) to be viewed in a deployed application? If not, are there any plans for this in a future release?

Mathworks has a policy against talking about features for future releases. They don't tell the volunteers like me.
I do not have the Image Processing Toolkit so I am not able to investigate this further.
