Running movie file simultaneously to other code

I'd like to run a small movie file to simulate a fancy "processing bar" while performing .m code uninterrupted. Clearly I know how to run a movie file first and once that is completed run the .m code, but how can these be run simultaneously to show this movie while the program is running?

You could use a timer to run a waitbar while the other stuff is running.

You cannot do that in MATLAB, except by using system() to start a new process that does the playing (and then you have problems with synchronization.)
