I am using imagesc to plot a map. There are 8 possible variables that can be included in a pixel, hence the plot is of values 1-8. Most pixels only have one number included, however some have 2. To accurately represent this I wonder if it is possible to somehow split a pixel in half so that when I plot the map using imagesc it shows 2 colours (e.g. the colour representing 1 and the colour representing 5)
Is there a simple solution to achieve this?

No. You will need to create a new matrix twice as wide (or twice as tall) in which each pair of locations is either set the same (one color) or is set differently (two colors)

I thought that might be the case, thank you
