Matlab Coder refuses to build package contents

I'm currently taking my first steps with ML coder. It seems to successfully locate m files - unless they're inside packages. That is to say, Root\TestFunction.m builds nicely, but Root\+TestPackage\TestFunction.m fails with a nonsensical message:
The same error is shown if I type '+TestPackage\TestFunc.m' instead of 'TestPackage.TestFunc'.
I can't find any mention of this or any workaround. I'm using R2016A. Can anyone shed light on this?
Thanks

My understanding is that you cannot build parts of packages; you have to build something that calls the package.

It might be documented somewhere. There have been several postings with regards to MATLAB Coder and classes, in which someone from Mathworks has replied that you cannot compile classes but need to call the class to get it compiled; I would think it likely that the same holds for packages.
