How to measure time reduction efficiency of haar wavelet compression code in matlab?

hi,i am working for moving object detection and using frame differencing method for it.Also i have applied 2d haar compression method for reducing image resolution and fast execution.so i have to measure the time efficiency of the code.how can i findout that after image compression detection would be fast?please help me with this.Your help is much appreciated.
