MPO (stereo) file from two TIFF files?

Hello,
I'm currently trying to create some MPO images for my lab's stereo screen monitor and I was wondering if there was a fast way to take two TIFF files (left image and right image) and combine them into a stereo MPO file. I couldn't find anything online and so far, I've just been using StereoPhoto Maker by hand to create images. I'm convinced there's a faster way to do this in MATLAB. Any suggestions?
