Why do I have to register in order to watch some webinars?

Why do I need to register before watching some webinars? What is the registration for?

I would assume MathWorks likes to gather information on how many people are showing interest and watching the webinars. Also, it gives them the ability to follow up with registered users based on the webinar they watched (such as discussing different tools that can help them in their area of work).

Why is this a problem though? All you have to do is provide an e-mail.
