Necessary steps before running linear analysis on Simulink model

I have a Simulink model with 8 states in which I declared one input and one output point. Do I have to run the Simulink model for some amount of time or do something else before linear analysis works correctly? I declared all of the initial conditions as well as the input parameters before running linear analysis, but it does not recognize any of the states in the model. I want to linearize my model around these initial conditions (operating points).
