I want to be able to access the level of the tree and the number of nodes and the information of the nodes after a split. What is the best data structure to use?
Please explain in some detail and in simple terms. I am new to matlab.

I would also suggest taking a look at the MathWorks documentation for object-oriented programming in MATLAB: http://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/object-oriented-programming.html

It seems the link is dead (for newer releases) due to the split into separate classification trees and regression trees pages.
