Read Data through USB real time !

I want to read data through the USB @ around10Mb/s. I am not able to achieve that through fscanf. Is it something I am doing wrong using the function or Am I using the wrong function for this kind of application ? Is this problem related to the buffersize ?
FYI - I am reading ASCII values (numbers) of size 8 bits for each packet.
