Parallel profile isn't saved.

Any changes I make to the local profile in `Preferences > Parallel Computing Toolbox > Cluster Profile Manager > Edit` are not saved--they take effect during that session, but are gone on the next setup. How can I persist these settings? I tried exporting the profile to ~/Documents/MATLAB/local.settings, but this doesn't seem to be loaded.

This sounds like a problem with your installation, or your prefdir. I suggest contacting MathWorks support for further assistance.

The parallel computing profiles reside in the MATLAB Preferences directory as suggested by Edric in the above post. The contents of this directory may remain unchanged due to insufficient permissions which may cause you to lose your history and profiles. If this is the case there are a few steps that you can take to resolve the issue.

1) In MATLAB type the following command

>>prefdir

This will output the path of the MATLAB Preferences directory if it exists.

2) Close MATLAB and navigate to this folder in an explorer window. Open Properties for this folder by right clicking in the empty space in the window.

3) In the ‘Security’ tab you should see your user name in the ‘Group or user names’ box and when you select it your permissions will be shown in the ‘Permissions for username’ box. Please make sure that you have the permission to ‘Read’ and ‘Write’ set as ‘Allow’. Please contact the System Administrator at your organization if you are unable to set permissions yourself.

4) Restart MATLAB

Thanks for your input, but it looks like there are already no permissions restrictions on this directory. prefdir returns /home/tsbertalan/.matlab/R2016b. Permissions on this directory are drwxrwxr-x, and its parent also has drwxrwxr-x. My home directory has permissions drwx------.

I'm on Ubuntu 15.10, and do have administrative access.

Any other ideas?
