pdepe function without right boundary conditon

Hello

I have a first order PDE (u_t = a*u_x or advection equation) and for solving, it doesn't need boundary condition at right. but in pdepe function I should enter boundary condition at right (end of the stream). How could I ignore right b.c in pdepe?

pdepe is designed to solve parabolic-elliptic PDEs (that's what the "pe" at the end of the name "pdepe" stands for).

Your PDE is hyperbolic in nature. That means that pdepe is not suited to solve it.

Or discretize your simple equation in space and use ODE15S to solve the resulting system of ordinary equations in time (method-of-lines approach).
