Question about setting up convex optimization toolbox

Hi there, I am working on a convex optimization problem using Matlab and I have some question about optimization toolbox provided in Matlab. Here is my optimization problem.
I wrote the objective function but I am not sure is it correct or not.

f = symsum(p^2, k, [1;M]);
