How do I save a file so it will still operate as a matlab sheet when opened?

WHen I save and open Matlab files, the matrices are still there, but the spreadsheet is dead. It won't display values properly. How do I save and open to keep the matrices and history live?

Provide more information about your workflow. What do you mean by 'spreadsheet is dead'?
Are you talking about .mat files in which matrices are still there?
