Hi,
I'm using Matlab 2014b. I have licence (provided by my university) to download the latest version. But it happens that I need to use this old version because in my set up Matlab is interacting with other software, which only supports Matlab 2014. I need to use some of the features included in newer versions of Matlab, in particular the Bayesian optimization commands. I wonder if it is possible to update only the optimization toolbox in Matlab 2014 while keeping the same version of Matlab.
Thank you!

No, all toolbox versions are uniquely linked to a base Matlab version so when you upgrade one you upgrade all.

That is bad news. Thank you for the bad news anyway!
