remove x-value for a group bar plot

I try to plot a group bar with some names as its x value. I know that I can change the x values with "set(gca, 'XTick',1:4, 'XTickLabel',{'LMAT' 'OPT-EC' 'SCAN' 'Zcurve'})" . but my problem is that when i use this command these lables will be written on the random values that exists. I try to remove the random values with "set(gca,'XTick',[])" but it does not work in this case. any idea?
