The calculation of the mass matrix for 3-node triangle meshes is explained here :
1. How is it implemented for 6-node triangle meshes? I can not find this in the documentation.
2. What are the basic functions for these elements?

In the FEATool Multiphysics FEM toolbox the finite element shape functions are defined quite easily and available in the ellib fem element library folder, for example the 2nd order Lagrange shape function is defined in the sf_simp_P2.m function file. Moreover, you can also define custom shape functions like done with the Hermite finite element here .

Thank's for the links to the fea tool. I did not know of this toolbox until now.
