Your code is written with Chinese, but what is the locale set to on your computer?

In addition to Walter's question, could you provide an screenshot of how the Chinese characters are appearing? Do they appear as blocks, question marks, etc?

i just found other solution for that, you need open your code open with notpad++ and it will show you all other language comments
NOTE; i will not work with simple notepad ,,, so you need Notepad++
Link for the Notepad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/

I also got the same problem with the R2017b.
All Chinese comments cannot be displayed correctly but question marks. I try the method below to sort it out but failed. Because when I open the file lcdata.xml, I cannot find the part which the answer writer want me to change. https://cn.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/280988-how-do-i-get-my-matlab-editor-to-read-utf-8-characters-utf-8-characters-in-blank-squares-in-editors
Does someone know how to fix it? Thks
