Package for RTL-SDR Radio records only fixed length signals?

I understand, from the documentation, that using the package in Matlab allows recording only fixed length samples, while the Simulink RTL-SDR Receiver block can receive in real time, but is it possible to develop a model to record only during a specific period of time, no matter the number of samples?

Yes, it is possible. You can create a model where you receive samples as a stream (continously) but when recording (write to a file?) just select the ones that you are interested in.
