Counting People using Camera

I have a project for counting people using camera at entrance gate. Anybody have a method or some methods that i can use it for my project? I've read some papers but i'm still confusing. I'm interested for using virtual line to count the people entering or exiting a building, but i don't know how it works. Can you give me a procedure or an algorithm or maybe codes of it? Thanks.
