Different parallel computing in Matlab 2017b?

I just installed Matlab 2017b and I have to do some parallel computing. I get a message that the Parallel Computing Toolbox has to be licensed, installed, and enabled. Also, when I go to Preferences, there's no parallel option.
I easily got started with parallel computing in Matlab 2014a. Is there something different in the new version? How do I proceed?

Even if you are licensed for the software (it costs extra for all licenses), it would not necessarily be installed by default. You should go back into the installer and ensure that you install it. If it does not show up for you in the installer then MATLAB does not believe you have it licensed.

I have a follow up question. I am trying to run parallel pooling on my mac. I get the message that the parallel pooling is starting, but it never actually starts. Is there some way I can solve this issue?
You should contact Mathworks for installation support on this matter.
But first you might want to validate the pool named 'local'; see https://www.mathworks.com/help/distcomp/discover-clusters-and-use-cluster-profiles.html
