Why does the variable "plc_ts_counter" appear in my generated PLC code?

I am using PLC Coder to generate code. I notice that the variable "plc_ts_counter" appears several times in the generated code. I have not specified this anywhere. Where does this variable come from?

It sometimes shows up as "plc_ts_counter1" or other variations with integers appended to the end.

The variable "plc_ts_counter" and its variations are exclusive to muli-rate models. After converting your model to a single-rate system, this variable should disappear from the generated PLC code.
