Detect free spot in a parkspot

Hey guys how can I find a free parking space in an Image? I’m using R-CNN Faster and ObjectDetection for finding cars in an Image, that’s working well so far. But how can I find a free spot? I saw this picture (see picture), where someone wrote a code with a great idea, but have no idea how. Someone can help please? I'm also open for other ideas

Probably you can check distance between the bounding boxes of cars to have an idea on free space between the cars
