System of Differential equations

Hello All. I know that to solve a system of differential equations I can use the rutines ODE45, or ODE23 of Matlab.For that I need to know the initial conditions of my problem. However, for my system of 2 equations I just know the initial value of one equation and the rank for the other. Do you know how I can solve the system searching for the best initial conditions ?? I will really apreciate your help..
