MATLAB memory leak when creating symbolic variables

When I try to create a symbolic variable e.g. "syms x;" and hit enter, MATLAB freezes and starts memory leaking until my ram is maxed out and does nothing until I restart the program. This occurs in both versions I have tried, 2017B and 2018A.

I have seen one report similar to this before, but no resolution.
Question: is it possible that you have Maple installed?
I'm not sure what maple is, so I doubt I have it installed.
I have the same problem, did you solve it? if so, how?
Thank you :)

I am also having the same problem, Windows 10 Professional on a Surface Pro 3 - I am relatively sure Maple is not installed.
I tried restarting and reinstalling the Symbolic Toolkit, but the problem persists

Are you using Windows 10 Spring Creator Update 2018? If so this Bug Report may be applicable.
