Why do I get Error Failed to add local user: "MATLABWebAppsGuest" while registering WebApp Service?

Hi,

I have installed Web App Server and while registering Web App Service, I am getting this error-

ERROR: The service command did not execute successfully with the following error: [Error] The account already exists.
[Error] Failed to add local user: "MATLABWebAppsGuest".
[Error] Failed to install the web app server.

There no option to unregister, only register option is available.

Also, start button is disabled, so I cannot start my webApps.

How can I fix this?

This error is thrown when there is a problem with registered user.

You are trying to register the same user who is already registered.

But there is some problem with already registered user.

A simple workaround would be to delete the existing user from "Users and Groups".

To do this in Windows- 

​1. Press the Win+R keys to open Run, type lusrmgr.msc into Run, and click/tap on OK to open Local Users and Groups.

2. Click/tap on Users in the left pane of Local Users and Groups. 

3. Delete the existing MATLABWebAppsGuest user.

Once user is removed, restart Web App Server.

I met the same problem and there is no MATLABWebAppsGuest in Local Users.

Hello,

I have a problem with registration. In my case, the server have been working several weeks but suddenly is unable to run.

The error I get is the following:

"The service command did not execute successfully with the following error: [SC] StartService: OpenService

Error 5:

Access denied

I have reinstall the web app server utility and deleted the default user but the error persits.

Any clue?

This is typically caused by an issue with user permissions. Check that the program is being run with administrator privileges, either by logging in as the correct user or explicitly starting the executable with admin permissions.

If you continue to have issues, I would check with your IT department before submitting a help ticket.
