Opening Password Protected Excel Files in Matlab

I am trying to open a password protected Excel file to use xlsread and xlsinfo. I know the password.
I have seen several posts including the xlsprotect solution which I downloaded but can't seem to get any of the solutions to work. It should work with Excel 2003 and Excel 1010.
Could someone walk me through this, please. Hopefully without pointing me to these other solutions I have already tried.
Now that I have an account on here, I can post MY SPECIFIC ERROR MESSAGES.
Thanks in advance!
