please get me a simple example of a GUIDE created gui!How do i display images in the gui using 'uigetfile'/uigetdir??

I assume that you have already created with GUIDE an axes and a pushbutton which calls uigetfile let's say that you have picked from uigetfile the file flowers.tif :
you could write :
axes(handles.axes1); % axes1 is by default the tag of the axis created with GUIDe
Im=image(imread('flowers.tif'))
