hoe to import *.dat file to matlab ?

i'm trying to import the *.dat file into matlab but, it seems to have worked but the numerical values haven't appeared as expected

filename= 'B00049.dat';
M= dlmread(filename,' ',3,0)

what was expected

   6.000000 6.000000 0.592404 -6.204762

 what came out

does anyone have a suggestion please ?
