Analyze different parameters of a picture

Hi,

I'm not an expert in matlab and in the field of my question, so my language could be inappropriate: in this case i'm sorry.

I'm doing a psychology experiment with some picture and i have to know if two images are similar or very different in some parametres like luminance, contrast and high/low frequency. Are there any method to perform this analysis on matlab?
