How do I start making a Huffman Image compression app with GUI? I want to compress a Colored image and show the after and before image.

I am currently working on two (Huffman & LZW) image compression algorithm both lossless type. I want to make an app with GUI in mathlab comparing the two algo. I want to start first in Huffman I am new to mathlab and I currently have no idea how to start.
