how to get the boundaries of white part only

(im student of civil engineering ) i dont want to break the pixels and want to keep the quality (vector image ). i have uploaded the ".fig file" i got from matlab ,now i want to find the boundaries of white part only .black line as boundary of white part and white background .please explain in most simple way so civil guy can understand . code will be more helpfull. thanks
