Using the mapping toolbox in matlab

Hello everyone, I'm working on network analysis (finding the distance between the group of nodes) and i created the networkdataset in arcmap for finding the routes required but i don't know how to use those to calculate the shortest routes and i also don't have the length between these nodes. My question is how to use those shapefiles data to find the shortest route between the nodes. I'm completely new to this software so anyone please feel free to suggest the best possible way so that i could find the required one.
