Why do I get error 379 while attempting to activate or log in?

During activation or log in of MATLAB, I receive the error 379 "No licenses were found". How do I resolve this?

This error is caused due to an issue with the Activation Key, which could be caused by one of the following:

• If you are using an Activation Key that is invalid. Please use the correct Activation Key in order to activate MATLAB.
  • Unless you are trying to link your MathWorks account to a new license, you do not need an Activation Key. If you are not tied to any licenses, please either contact your organization to be tied to a license or purchase one.

• If you are using an Activation Key for a license that is Login Named User (LNU) only.
• If you are trying to log into an LNU prompt with an account that does not have an LNU license.
• If you are attempting to link to an Individual license that already has an end user.

Login Named User (LNU) is a portable license option that verifies license rights over the internet and requires users to log into their MathWorks Account each time they start MATLAB. As such, LNU requires an uninterrupted internet connection.

If you purchased your MATLAB directly from Mathworks then you need to contact Mathworks Support.

If your license is being provided by your university or workplace, then you need to contact them. If you do not know who to contact them Mathworks Support can give you the contact information for your location.

The volunteers do not have any activation keys to give out.

If your license is from a university, contact the university. If your license is from an organization that you work for, then contact the support staff of the organization. If you purchased your license directly from Mathworks, then contact Mathworks Support for installation assistance.

The volunteers who answer questions here do not have access to the license database. Also, the license terms say that we can only make available the licenses that we do have to other people in the same organization that we are in -- so if I had a spare license, I would not be permitted to let you use it.

You need to contact the place you got your license from -- your university or your employer, or Mathworks Sales if you bought from Mathworks.
