Variables window stopped working all of a sudden. I cannot display any variables. Restarted, re-installed Matlab, re-installed graphics drivers. Still will not open. Requested support. In the meantime any ideas?

Have you tried other variables like a string, cell array, etc?

  1. Save your work and Quit Matlab.
  2. Go to the C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\MathWorks\MATLAB folder.
  3. Make a copy of the Matlab Version Folder (eg. mine is "R2019a", yours might be different) Note: This is a precautionary measure such that, if something goes wrong you can revert back to your old settings.
  4. Delete the Matlab Version Folder.
  5. Start Matlab.
This is how I fixed mine, however, you will lose your preferences and paths etc.
What is your OS and your graphics card? I think they are the cause of this not Matlab.

I apologize for the extreme delay in replying to your comment. I'm using Windows 10 with no external/ dedicated graphics card. I believe its the integrated Intel graphics (on the motherboard).
