Import in workspace large data set from .txt file

Hi everyone! My problem is i have a .txt file with 720000000 numbers (that is a 720000x1000 matrix) that weights around 15GB, i found almost impossible for computational time to just import that matrix in my workspace to save in a .mat file and work on it.

Which could be the fastest way to do it?
