Matlab stops suddenly after a few seconds

I am running Matlab 2019a on a Windows 10 laptop. . My previous installation of 2018b stopped running so I upgraded to 2019a, but the same problem persists. I click on the Matlab icon, and in the first few seconds of appears to be starting normally. However, the process stops and no splash screen and nothing. Please help
