Licensing issue with compiled code - am I illegal?

All,
I have an academic license of Matlab, and this license is owned by my employer. I have recently written some demonstration software for a colleague, which she would now like to put on a CD, and include with a book she has written which will be published soon (and hence for sale). Can anyone tell me if I am allowed to use my academic license compiled code for this purpose, or should I somehow try seek access to somebody's personal copy?
I've checked many places but can't seem to find a definitive answer. I've also contacted Matlab directly 8 weeks ago but yet received no reply.

I may be missing something obvious, but is your software intended to be stand-alone or is it intended to be run in MATLAB by whoever buys the book?

"compiled code".
(e.g., MCR would have to be included.)

Someone should have gotten back to you. Please try emailing <mailto:support@mathworks.com support@mathworks.com> or creating a Service Request through your account on MATLAB Central.

If the book is not being published by (or on behalf of) the academic institute itself, for the purposes of the academic institute (e.g., courseware or administrative software used internally by the academic institute), then my interpretation of the licenses is that NO, a commercial license for the compiler would be required.
Note: I am not (and never have been) a lawyer in any jurisdiction.

Lucas, I thought you were Mechanical Engineering, not Law ?

Just to clarify this, I got an answer back from a very helpful chap at Mathworks last night saying for this purpose ONLY I was OK to use the academic license. I reckon the details of the case would always be required to be sent to Mathworks for advice, as I would imagine there are many complicated scenarios out there!
