patternet algoriith s for v2013a and v 2019a

I am using patternet in the neural network trainig tool in 2013a.
When running the display window algorithm is using 'Derivative Default deriv' I have downloaded ver 2019a and run pattennet.This time the display window is different and says the algoritm is 'Caculation MEX' .
What does thsis mean and how can I ensure that patternet in v 2019a is using the same algorthim 'Derivative Default deriv ' as it did in v 2013a?
