I am trying to solve the following pde equation using pdepe

In addition to initial condition, is it required to specify boundary condition to solve the above equation using pdepe solver?

pdepe is not suited to solve pdes without second-order spatial derivative.

You will have to discretize the above equation on your own and call ode15s to solve the resulting system of ordinary differential equations.
