This is the set-up of my macbook

It takes more than ten minute to start my matlab and there always a "processing" circle running and making my CPU runs to 95 degrees. And a slight modification to my script, such as changing a number without running it also take 1-3 minutes "processing"

When I try to open my Add-ons, this shows up. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the slow-processing.

I am not a software engineer but a sport scientist, only have limited knowledge about software engineering. Can anyone help me with this?

Are you using the Magnet app or something similar? If so try turning Magnet off.

Magnet is the reason! You saved my life. Thank you, Steven!

I found this solution in another thread, and it makes the "Processing" circle go away:
disable source control integration. a. On the Home tab, in the Environment section, click Preferences. b. In the Preferences dialog box, in the MATLAB > General > Source Control pane, select None.
