Why am I getting the error message "Failed to create folder" on Mac after selecting an installation location?
Error message should include "/Applications/MATLAB_RXXXXx"

If the user is receiving this error message, their Mac account does not have the permissions required to create the /Applications/MATLAB_RXXXXx directory.
The workaround to resolve this is to swap to an administrative account or run the installer with the sudo command in Terminal. The syntax for the Terminal window would be as follows:
sudo /Volumes/matlab_RXXXXx_maci64/InstallForMacOSX.app/Contents/MacOS/InstallForMacOSX
