Where to manually store a path.m file?

Hello all,
I am using MATLAB 2018b on a work computer. I can load in path.m files, but I do not have admin rights to save them for future use (loading them in for every new session is not an option as this takes a long time).
However, I can save the path.m file in a different location. Matlab tells me: "for matlab to use that pathdef.m in future sessions, save it in your matlab startup folder (the folder from which you start matlab)." I need to ask my work's ICT desk to do this for me, as they have the admin rights.
Which folder is MATLAB referring to, i.e. to where should this path.m file be copied to? Can I just copy it to C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2018b , or does it need to go in a specific subfolder (e.g. ...\bin)?
Thanks!

When you start MATLAB, the Command window will show you the current folder (default: \document\MATLAB). That is the startup folder. You can change the startup folder through many ways. It is usually set as the folder where you want to start your work right away.
