How to extract boundary of binary image in a fixed sequence ?

If I have a binary image like this, how to extract boundary in a certain order. For instance, I can extract boundary from left to right side, or from top to bottom side ?
When I use boundaries function, it gives me disordered sequences ? I really confused about how to solve this problem.
