Since initially posting the question, I've since opened another Project and came back to this stand-alone model, but the proposed Project name has not changed (to suggest the most recent Project open). So, it appears that the Project Simulink wants me to launch with this stand-alone model is stuck on a path or memory some where.
How do I get rid of a nuissance popup window that, when I open a model not in a project, I am asked if I want to "open project and model", or jest "open model"?

When I open a simple .slx file, not in a project nor in a directory tree with a project, a popup window wants me to open a project that the Simulink environment should now be aware of. This is a nuissance now, and may be indicative of a deeper problem. I happens after a clean launch of Matlab, and even after a reboot.
