geobasebmap overlapping geoTIFF raster

I would like use geobasemap, to plot overlapping a geoTIFF raster layer with trasparency: which functions/procedure might enable me to do so?: imshow, geoshow, imagesc etc., could be useful for this purpose? Is tehre any example of how to perform such map?
