Making a code complex just for the sake of it is a pointless question, especially for this forum. However, the following code shows an alternate method to calculate Laplace transform using its definition
syms s t;
assume(real(s) > 0);
D = rad2deg(-pi/4);
f = cos(5*t+D);
S = int(f*exp(-s*t), t, 0, inf)
