ROS 2 not downloaded on the VM for Gazebo simulator?

I am currently working on "
Feedback Control of a ROS-enabled Robot over ROS 2
In order for this to work, a virtual machine set up is required (as given in "https://uk.mathworks.com/support/product/robotics/ros2-vm-installation-instructions-v2.html"). The ROS 2 Dashing doesn't seem to be functioning since when typing "ros2('topic','list')" on the vm terminal, no features of the gazebo simulator show up (cmd_vel, odom etc), the same when typing this on matlab command, only \parameter_events shows up. The first version of ROS shows up since when typing "rostopic list" on vm terminal and matlab command.
In order for the completion of this task, ROS 2 is required.
I would highly appreciate your help.. Thank you.

Did you run ROS brdige by clicking the "ROS Bridge (Dashing) " on your desktop? All shipping examples require the ROS bridge since all Gazebo simulations run with ROS1, so you'll need to launch the ROS bridge for bypassing topics to ROS2.
